Chairman Cheng Kai of China Disabled Persons’ Federation Visits Inclusion Factory to Review Employment Initiatives for People with Disabilities
On the afternoon of October 19, Chairman Cheng Kai of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF) visited Inclusion Factory to review its efforts in promoting employment for people with intellectual disabilities. His visit was a great honor for us, and we were deeply encouraged by his positive feedback. The insights gained from this visit have clarified our development direction and reinforced our commitment to further progress. The following report is from Taicang Release.
On the same day, Chairman Cheng Kai, accompanied by Jiang Aijun, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation, Du Xiaozhen, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu CDPF, and Wang Xiangyuan, Secretary of the Taicang Municipal Party Committee, conducted a research visit to Taicang, focusing on local initiatives for persons with disabilities.
The delegation first visited Inclusion Factory in Taicang’s High-tech Zone, where they were briefed on the factory’s operations, toured the workshops, and viewed products. Chairman Cheng expressed his strong approval of the factory’s role in providing equal employment opportunities and fostering social inclusion for individuals with disabilities. He also commended the work of the UShine Charity Center, which provides training programs aimed at improving employability for students from special education schools. He acknowledged the social responsibility efforts of the involved German companies, which are also contributing to the success of these initiatives.
Chairman Cheng emphasized that the success of Inclusion Factory is not only a result of Taicang’s strong cooperation with Germany but also due to the local government’s supportive policies for the development of disability services. He noted that Inclusion Factory’s model has great potential as a replicable example for other regions.
Inclusion Factory is the first and largest social enterprise in China dedicated to supporting the employment of people with intellectual disabilities. Currently, 44 individuals with disabilities are employed at the factory, and with the support of Inclusion Advisory, more than 30 others have been placed in mainstream businesses. The UShine Charity Center, which operates within the factory, provides psychological and physical rehabilitation, along with training in life skills and social integration, creating a “home” for individuals with disabilities and promoting their overall development. Additionally, the center offers skills training programs to the broader community and is working to extend the Inclusion Factory’s model beyond Taicang.
Vice Mayor Sheng Haifeng also participated in the visit.
We are deeply honored by the recognition and encouragement from Chairman Cheng and his team. This affirms the progress we have made and serves as a powerful motivator for our ongoing efforts to advance the employment opportunities of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
We are committed to continuing our work, helping more individuals with intellectual disabilities realize their potential and fully integrate into society.
