“Xinqingnian” Employment and Empowerment Program: Supporting Young People with Intellectual Disabilities in Their Journey toward Social Integration

This year, to further enhance the vocational skills and independent living abilities of students with special educational needs, and to promote their social integration and employment, Taicang UShine Charity Center, in partnership with Inclusion Factory, jointly launched the “Empowerment and Support Program for Independent Living” for young people with intellectual disabilities.
Every young person with intellectual disabilities carries the hopes of their family. Their growth and progress depend on the collective efforts of society, businesses, schools, and families.
What does the program do?
The program is centered on supporting young people with intellectual disabilities in leading autonomous lives. It offers a range of services, including one-on-one case support, vocational exposure, and daily living skills training. Specific activities include systematic vocational training, hands-on job experience and internships, personalized independent living support, as well as psychological empowerment and social integration activities.
The program runs for 12 months (from April 2025 to March 2026) and includes 48 class sessions of vocational training, and at least 12 job experience and internship sessions.

The Growth Stories of Five Young Participants
Not long ago, five students from Taicang Special Education School came to Inclusion Factory to begin their work placements, learn vocational skills, and take an important step toward independent living.

After a period of training and practice, they have made remarkable progress in their vocational abilities—they are now able to sort, inspect, and assemble product parts with proficiency. In terms of daily living, most of them can now carry out everyday activities independently or with some support.
Even more encouraging is their improved social confidence. During group activities and inclusion-focused events, they have shown a more positive attitude toward interaction, communicating more naturally and fluently with others.

Inclusion Factory will continue to deepen the program, expand partnerships with companies and social resources, and provide more young people with intellectual disabilities with comprehensive support—from training to employment, from daily living to social integration—so that they can lead more dignified and fulfilling lives.
Every young person with intellectual disabilities deserves to be seen and supported. We believe that with the collective attention and efforts of society, more and more of them will step out of their homes, enter the workplace, and live lives full of meaning and promise.
