我们该如何正确称呼残障伙伴？
使用合适的残障用语，能够以相互尊重的方式，与残障人士进行交流和互动。
首先，这涉及到在表达时，如何把“人”放在第一位，而不是他们的“残疾”。在交流中有两种常见的语言偏好：“以人为本”和“身份第一”。
“以人为本”（People First），强调的是人，而不是他们的残障。“身份第一”（Identity First）则认为，残障是个人身份的固有组成部分。

举个例子来说，小明被诊断患有自闭症，“以人为本”的语言模式会说：“小明是一位自闭症人士；“身份第一”的语言模式则会说：“小明有自闭症。”如果你不确定使用哪一种语言模式与残障人士交流，那么，请用“以人为本”的方式。不过，在具体场景中，还应尊重残障者本人希望使用的说法。
另外，我们都应该停止使用那些侮辱性的词语，例如：残废、瘸子、瞎子、弱智……换而以肢体障碍人士、视障人士、心智障碍人士来称呼他们；那些过时的术语、残而不废的人、有生理缺陷的人……在交流中也应该被淘汰。（详见下表）这些用语很伤人，它们使得人们的刻板印象和消极态度始终存在。

还有一点很重要，不要因为一个人是残障人士，就称他为“受害者”或“英雄”。每个人在生活中都多多少少面临着挑战，这和成为英雄还相差甚远。
